Kia ora e te whānau! My name is André and I’m from the north, the south, and little bit in-between! My world revolves around tamariki ākonga, Kapa Haka, Te Reo and my life! I’m currently in my last year of study before I go for my teaching degree in postgrad!

I’m still a freshie to the Change Agent system, being inducted in July 2021! I was first involved with The HEART Movement in 2020 where I got featured in a video introducing Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori 2020. During one of our Level 4 lockdowns, I’ve hosted Quiz Nights for our change agents where we play games, costume changes, dancing, and a whoooole lot of laughing! I was also invited to co-host our Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori 2021 segment.

What I like most about The HEART Movement, is the unlimited avenues of support. The HEART Movement is constantly aiming to provide support for mental health, find keynote speakers, lecturers etc. What I LOVE about The HEART Movement is when they say “Come as you are and bring all of you”, whether that’d be the good side of your face or the bad side - come as you are. No judgement, no advice. My favourite thing about being part of this cohort/kaupapa is being able to meet so many people and creating amazing relationships throughout the community.

A fun fact about me? Hmm, I once shoved a peppermint tictac up my nose - and it burned!! My mum had to use tweezers to pull it out!

We’re always so quick to look at how high the mountains are in front of us, but forget to realise the mountains behind were just as hard to climb - do everything you do with excellence.
