Mana Wāhine Week 2025
Mana Wāhine Week 2025 is just around the corner! Check out what we have organised so far and get in touch if you can help - kiaora@heartmovement.org.nz
The Details
What - The week is going to be full of workshops, wānanga, healing, connection, kai and joy. We’re going to create spaces to talk about everything that happens in the life cycle of being a woman... Getting our periods, virginity, fertility, miscarriage, menopause and more! We’re aiming for a powerful, free and inclusive event that supports wāhine of all ages and stages, including māmā (we’ll try to have babysitting too!). The schedule will be announced Wednesday 27th August.
When - The second week of the school holidays, our Opening Ceremony will be on Sunday 29th September, there will be three sessions per weekday and we will end with our Celebration Ball on 3rd October 2025.
Where - All sessions will take place in Tāmaki (East Auckland).
Why - The overarching focus of Mana Wāhine Week is celebration of women, and the focus of the HEART Movement is building healthy relationships, with a focus on preventing family violence. All activities will be aligned to our Theory of Change which is built around the key phases of personal and community change, towards healthy relationships.
How - Mana Wāhine Week 2025 will be a real community collaboration with our Partner and Member Organisations hosting each kaupapa and our Change Agents taking the lead and making decisions. The HEART Movement is a community initiative and will always be community-led in everything we do.
The Schedule

Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony will take place from 2pm-4pm on Sunday 28th September 2025. The working group hui will decide on the schedule of the Opening Ceremony but it will be a celebration of women and what’s to come over the week, plus some time to mix and mingle.

Each day will centre on a pou of Te Whare Tapa Whā and include kaupapa like healthy relationships, fertility, rongoā, periods, miscarriage, menopause, pampering, and storytelling.

Change Agent Chill Zone
We are looking to organise a central hub over the week, where our Change Agents will hold space for anyone who would like to come and have meaningful conversations! This will be in a central venue and Change Agents will be rostered on to stay for an hour or two at a time. We will “go live” on social media for a kōrero about an aspect of te whare tapa whā which is our theme for that day, similar to how we did during covid lockdowns - with a focus on wellbeing. Check out the playlist on Facebook and our blog post on how that went and all the wonderful Change Agents who made it happen.
We need Change Agents to put their hands up to hold this space over Mana Wāhine Week 2025 - to volunteer your time, aroha and skills, please complete our Change Agent Chill Zone Sign Up form.
Celebration Ball
It won’t all be serious conversations, we are so excited to be ending Mana Wāhine Week with a Celebration Ball! Where we can dress up and be fancy, we’ll have a photoboard from the week, share kai, we’ll have a photographer, a female DJ and even a catwalk!
Our ball will be 6pm - 10pm, on Friday 3rd October. Stay tuned as tickets will be available soon.

it’s sort of an unhealthy relationship with ourselves.”
