My name is Candace and I was born and bred in Auckland. I have 3 daughters and have been living in GI for nearly 10 years. I whakapapa to Tonga, Fiji, Niue and Europe. I began working in the Tāmaki community about 5 years ago through my interest in waste reduction.  Through working in waste education I discovered the HEART Movement and met many amazing people who were connected to HEART. Alongside my waste education mahi I developed a love of gardening which is a big part of my wellbeing. I am currently working for Garden to Table as the Regional Coordinator for East and South Auckland Schools.

Before my role at Garden to Table, I did some media and communications for the HEART movement which included the creation and design of the website. I stay connected through attending workshops and events and helping out when and where I can.

I enjoy the network of people who are connected to HEART. Everyone has a love for the community and sees the strengths within it. The training workshops are great opportunities to learn and to keep engaged in topics that matter.

Fun fact about me, is that I have 29 houseplants.
