Community Services EXPO 2026

On the 9th of April, we attended the Community Support Services Expo at Glen Innes Town Centre, and it was a really special day filled with connection, kōrero, and community engagement.

The HEART table was set up with reflective questions designed to get people thinking and talking about relationships and support in their lives. Some of the questions included “Who do you have healthy relationships with in your life?”, “What makes a relationship healthy?” and “How can you find help when you need it?” It was really beautiful seeing a wide range of community members stopping by, taking time to reflect, and openly sharing their thoughts and experiences with us.

The atmosphere throughout the day was vibrant and full of life! The sun was shining, live music was serenading, and the whole space felt undoubtedly welcoming. Children were playing, there was laughter everywhere, and at the same time there were also some really heartfelt conversations happening between the community and all the different organisations. It felt like a true snapshot of community life, and it was beautiful to witness healthy relationships in action across this space.

We were joined by a wide range of incredible organisations, including Anglican Trust for Women and Children, Tāmaki Budgeting, Dove Hospice, Ruapotaka Marae, Compost Collective, Glen Innes Family Centre, HEART Movement, Literacy Aotearoa, Glen Innes CAB, Own It Tāmaki, EcoMatters and SonSk8. It was truly inspiring being surrounded by so many organisations all working towards support and empowerment in many different ways.

We also ran a prize draw for a HEART t-shirt, which was a fun and engaging part of the day. The winner is shown below, thank you for participating!

Community Support Services EXPO really highlighted how important connection and healthy relationships are and how family violence prevention is a community effort.

HEART is really grateful to have been part of this event, and we’re looking forward to more opportunities to show up, connect, and learn alongside our community in the future.
